The first step is to reach out to our office to speak with someone and describe your family’s needs. We will help you determine what options you have to choose from and what the best path for your loved one’s memorial will be. We recommend calling our office or sending an email to schedule and appointment prior to visiting the office, though walk-ins are welcome.
We have a wide variety of colors, sizes, and shapes of monuments. Some cemeteries have specific rules of what you can and cannot have, so it is best to find out if your cemetery has any requirements you will need to follow. We know most of the rules for surrounding cemeteries, but we always suggest you check yourself just to make sure. We cannot be responsible if you purchase a marker or monument that you cannot have.
Once you’ve chosen the type of monument, we work with you to select the other personalization options, such as the names and dates, designs, clip art, and epitaphs. We have thousands of designs to choose from and thousands of pieces of clip art. Designs range from simple things like roses or crosses to elaborate and unique things like animals and cars. We even have Spock from Star Trek! Chances are, if you want it, we have it.
Once you have selected your design options, we can create a computer-generated proof of the design for you, so that you can get a visual idea of what the memorial will look like. This gives you an opportunity to check all of the information for accuracy one more time before the memorial is completed.
Once the design has been approved, we begin the process of engraving the monument. Most of our stone comes from Elberton, GA, but some of our products come from Minnesota, the Dakotas, and even as far away as India and China. Depending on the product, the entire process can take several months, but the average time for a marker to be completed is within 8 weeks. This includes installation time. Once your stone arrives in our office, we cover it in a customized stencil to match the design you chose and then use a process called sandblasting to etch the information into the stone. This is done by hand, locally. Once the monument has been sandblasted, it is ready for the final step in the process: installation.
Once all of the designing and etching processes are complete, the monument is ready to be installed in the cemetery (or wherever you’ve chosen to place your memorial). We do our own installation work, so there’s no outside contractor or business to worry about. We install monuments all over Gaston County and the surrounding areas, so we are familiar with most cemeteries and how they like monuments to be installed. We install a layer of concrete under all of our markers and monuments for added stability. If, for any reason, there is a problem with one of our markers being installed, we always make it right.
We place the marker or monument based on the directions you or the cemetery give us. Sometimes cemeteries don’t know where you want the marker placed, so it’s always best to give us specific instructions on what you want.
